I am Captain of the School (Head Boy) at Eton College, a boarding school in the UK. While growing up, my parents moved around often, which required me to change schools frequently and so Eton College is the 11th school I have attended. I was born in the US and spent some of my childhood in India. As a result, I have spent significant parts of my life in each of the UK, US, and India. I am passionate about broadening these experiences by interacting with diverse people and educational systems from around the world.
I have 4 years of competitive debate experience and I am the president of my school’s debating club. To make debating more accessible, I helped found the Art of Debating organization. I provide digital resources to help students improve their debating skills and provide debate coaching through both weekly in-person sessions at UK state schools and annual summer programs.
I have been a member of the Program in Algorithmic and Computational Thinking (PACT) since 2021 as both a student and subsequently a teaching assistant. I have had the opportunity to work with PACT’s founder, Dr. Rajiv Gandhi in many areas. To stretch myself further, I completed the Princeton COS 126 course and started the COS 226 course. I have also delivered a lecture on optimization algorithms to undergraduate students at Rutgers University.
I participated in the Management & Technology Summer Institute (M&TSI), a 3-week-long rigorous for-credit college course focused on engineering, finance, and entrepreneurship. The program was centered around a final project where teams needed to create a complete product concept alongside a working prototype. My team developed Spark, a magnetic phone case accessory and app duo that vibrates when nearby individuals share interests, sparking spontaneous conversations and building communities.
My team and I competed in The Earth Prize, a $100,000 global environmental sustainability competition dedicated to financing innovative solutions to the environmental crisis, and were chosen as one of 10 Finalists. We proposed the utilization of mycofiltration—employing fungi to filter heavy metals out of river water. Our product design involved creating filtration sacks filled with mushroom spores that would grow on a substrate of wood chips and straw.
I have played the piano for over 10 years. I have finished Grade 8 and am currently working on the Trinity Diploma. I enjoy learning songs from my favorite TV shows and playing them on the piano. Moreover, I have a passion for design, having created an entire wardrobe. I also like drawing some of the characters from my favorite anime series, such as Fairy Tail, Naruto, and My Hero Academia.
Having been interested in Japanese culture since a young age, I embarked on the journey of learning the nation’s language four years ago. Since then, I have visited the country in two consecutive summers to experience its wonders in person. Initially, I studied at a language school while backpacking around various cities. The second time around, I interned as a paid camp counselor at a summer camp for 5-9 year-old Japanese students.
